Emote and Gifs Wall

Every emote and gif sent in chat floats across the screen with random animations.

Every emote and gif sent in your chat floats across the screen, at a random size, speed and movement. An atmosphere widget, full screen, sitting over everything else.

Platforms: Twitch, YouTube, Kick (gifs: Twitch only)

Action pack: not needed for the wall itself. Show / Hide needs Stream UI - Backend, which keeps whether the wall is shown; Clear the wall goes through Stream UI - Broadcast. See Who needs what.

This widget is on by default. Turn it off with Add to overlay on its card on the Widgets page, or hide it from one overlay in that overlay's Widget placement list.

The page

The widget's page works like a small app:

  • Settings, Style and Controls, the tabs over the editor, switch what it shows.
  • The Settings tab holds every setting in the main area, under three headings: Emotes, Animation and Movements. On the Controls tab, its controls and their triggers → Controls.
  • Widget preview, the panel against the window's right edge: the preview, the test buttons and the widget's own URL. The arrow at the top folds it to a slim rail. Drag its left edge to widen it, up to half the window; it keeps its width.

Emotes

SettingDefaultDetail
Emotes on screen50Ceiling of emotes and gifs shown at once, from 5 to 150. When it is reached, the oldest goes.
Emotes per message10Limit per message, from 1 to 30 — enough to survive emote spam without flooding the screen. Gifs count too.
Time on screen10 sHow long an emote or gif lives, from 2 to 30 s.
Show gifsonTwitch chat gifs join the wall. Off, they are left out and only emotes show.
Gifs in chat are a Twitch feature for Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscribers. When one of them posts a gif, it floats across the wall like an emote: same movements, random size, lifetime and look. Gifs aren't square, so each one is as tall as an emote and keeps its own width.

Animation

SettingDefaultDetail
Smallest size60 %Smallest random size, from 20 to 200 %.
Largest size150 %Largest random size, from 20 to 300 %.
Shortest animation4 sQuickest crossing, from 1 to 20 s.
Longest animation8 sSlowest crossing, from 1 to 30 s.

Both pairs work as bounds: each emote draws its size between "Smallest" and "Largest", and its duration between "Fastest" and "Slowest". Bringing the bounds together makes the wall uniform; spreading them makes it chaotic.

Movements

Each emote or gif takes one of the movements switched on, at random. All eight are on by default:

Float up · Float down · Slide left · Slide right · Zoom and spin · Bounce up · Spiral · Wobble up

Switching them all off is the same as switching them all on.

Emotes and gifs from ignored users — your bots, an alt account — never show. The list is set once for every widget, on the Connection page's Ignored users tab.

Style

ElementDetail
ContainerThe whole screen, clear by default. The emotes fly anywhere in it: no Size, Spacing or Content.
Emotes and gifsTheir size before the random scale above, then the picture sections: a soft shadow and a white glow by default, both following each emote's outline. A gif takes this size as its height.
Show / hide transitionHow the wall appears and leaves (Show / Hide). Its duration is also how long an emote or gif takes to fade out.

Default position

Full screen, centred. This widget ignores Width and Position.

Only the emotes and gifs are used: message text is ignored. A message without either triggers nothing. The Widget preview panel has three test buttons: Message with 3 emotes, Emote spam and Message with a gif.

Controls

On the widget page's Controls tab:

  • Controls, the column on the left, lists Show, Hide and Clear the wall, each with the names of its triggers. Pick one to see its triggers in Trigger list, beside it.
  • Trigger list: the Streamer.Bot triggers of that control — none by default, e.g. your stream going offline or a channel point reward. Add trigger adds one, conditions included → Triggers and conditions.
  • The main area has the manual controls, also in the controls window: first a Show / Hide button — one button, Hide while shown and Show while hidden, with the Show / hide transition, read live: Emote and Gifs Wall: Shown or Hidden — then Clear the wall.

Show / Hide acts on every overlay. Hidden, the wall keeps receiving emotes and gifs: shown again, it shows those still alive. It is kept in Streamer.Bot as streamUi.off.emotewall.display (1 hidden): your own actions can show or hide the wall by setting that persisted global variable. It needs Streamer.Bot connected and the Backend action.

Clear the wall: every emote and gif on screen leaves, on every overlay. The button goes through Stream UI - Broadcast, so it needs Streamer.Bot connected.
